About Dubai

Overview

Dubai, located in the United Arab Emirates, has undergone a remarkable transformation from a modest fishing village to one of the world's most cosmopolitan and innovative cities. With roots tracing back to 3,000 BC, Dubai's early inhabitants thrived on fishing, pearl diving, boat building, and sea trading. The discovery of oil in the late 1960s marked a turning point, leading to rapid development and prosperity. In 1971, Dubai joined its neighboring emirates to form the United Arab Emirates, ensuring the region's continued growth and success.

Today, Dubai is a bustling metropolis known for its futuristic skyline, luxurious lifestyle, and rich cultural heritage. The city offers a wide range of accommodation options, with the average price of hotels currently at $243, ranging from $25 to $7,872. With 887 hotels to choose from, visitors can find the perfect place to stay in various neighborhoods, including Deira, Bur Dubai, Old Dubai, Dubai Marina, and Al Barsha. Some of the most popular hotels include the Incredible Marina Views Apartment Near Marina Walk, Amazing 3Br Apartment in Dubai Marina, Sun City International Hotel, Lavender Hotel Sharjah, and Atlantis, The Royal.

Where to Eat in Dubai

Dubai's culinary scene is as diverse and dynamic as the city itself, offering a plethora of dining options to suit every palate and occasion.

Brunch: One of Dubai's favorite pastimes is the weekend brunch, a tradition that caters to various moods and preferences. Whether you're in the mood for a romantic meal, a fun gathering with friends, or simply want to indulge in fantastic cuisine, Dubai has it all. Popular brunch spots include Saffron, Bubbalicious, and Zuma. For a unique twist, consider an evening brunch at Jazz@Pizza Express or STK in JBR.

Street Food: To experience a different side of Dubai, embark on a walking food tour or create your own culinary adventure. Don't miss out on iconic street food spots like Ravi, Al Ustad Special Kebab, and Al Mallah. Dive into Dubai's food truck culture with sliders from the famous Salt truck on Kite Beach, or explore the diverse offerings at Last Exit themed parks. For a taste of the Levant and Gulf region, Bait Al Mandi in Al Barsha is renowned for its chicken and rice, while Zaroob is celebrated for its delicious manakish.

Experiential Dining: For those seeking a dining experience that goes beyond the ordinary, Dubai offers a range of novel options. Indulge in molecular gastronomy with Indian flavors at Trèsind Studio, enjoy a luxurious meal aboard Bateaux Dubai while sailing into the sunset, or dine in the desert at Al Maha Resort and Bab Al Shams. Underwater-themed restaurants like Ossiano at Atlantis, The Palm, and Al Mahara at Burj Al Arab provide a truly unique dining experience.

Outdoor Dining: Dubai's sunny climate makes it an ideal destination for outdoor dining. From fresh seafood and char-grilled steaks to Turkish pide, the city offers a variety of al fresco dining options. Carine and Nammos are great choices for casual outdoor meals, while Pierchic at Jumeirah Al Qasr offers a fine dining experience with stunning views. Rooftop venues like Mercury Rooftop, Level 43 Sky Lounge, and ZETA Seventy Seven provide breathtaking panoramic views of the city.

Business Restaurants: As a global hub at the crossroads of Europe, Asia, and Africa, Dubai is a prime destination for business travelers. The city boasts excellent infrastructure, world-class cuisine, and a range of leisure activities for when you're off the clock. For business meetings over a meal, consider Atmosphere at the Burj Khalifa, Café Belge at The Ritz-Carlton, or Zuma at the Dubai International Financial Centre. For a more relaxed setting, try Clay at Bluewaters Island or Cargo at Dubai Marina's Pier 7.

I booked a deluxe room via Hopper for 2 adults, 2 kids with breakfast included. Arrived to check in and I was told that the reservation was only for 2 adults with breakfast. Stayed there for 6 days and paid breakfast for my 2 kids out of my pocket. Tried to resolve the issue and I was bounced between the hotel and Hopper. In the end, I resigned to enjoy the vacation rather than let booking affect my vacation. I wish my issue was resolved but it wasn’t. I will never use Hopper again.
